Who pays taxes?

July 13, 2012

Besides me, that is.  Tim Taylor notes that the Congressional Budget Office has released its annual report on who pays taxes:  rich and poor, 99% and 1%, income tax and other taxes — you name it, we now have the data through 2009.

I won’t comment — the numbers speak for themselves — but start at page 8 of the pdf and look at the figures.  Tell me which ones you find the most interesting.

Update (Jul 20):  The CBO report has generated lots of discussion about how to represent the numbers.  A good example is Steve Landsburg‘s figure based on numbers from Greg Mankiw.
